STEROID INJECTIONS
(KELOID & HYPERTROPHIC SCARRING)

Steroid injections are a clinically proven treatment for improving the appearance and symptoms of keloid and hypertrophic scars.

A targeted medical treatment to flatten raised scars and relieve discomfort.

These scars can form after surgery, acne, trauma, piercings or burns, and develop due to excess collagen production during healing.

At Dr Kas Clinics, a small amount of corticosteroid (typically triamcinolone) is carefully injected into the scar tissue to reduce inflammation, soften raised areas, and improve texture and colour. Treatment is carried out by a qualified medical doctor to ensure precision, comfort and optimal results.

Time: 15–30 minutes

Results: Gradual improvement over several weeks

Sessions: Typically 2–4 sessions spaced 2–4 weeks apart

While steroid injections may not completely eliminate a keloid or hypertrophic scar, they can significantly flatten the scar, reduce redness, relieve itching or tenderness, and prevent further thickening. Multiple sessions may be required depending on scar size and response.

Keloid and hypertrophic scars can cause both cosmetic concern and physical discomfort. Steroid injections offer a reliable and medically effective option to soften raised scar tissue, reduce inflammation and improve overall comfort. Although treatment may not remove the scar entirely, it can significantly improve its height, texture and symptoms. The number of sessions needed varies depending on the severity of the scar and individual response, with most patients seeing noticeable improvement over a series of treatments.
